I am so disappointed we are loosing so much energy fighting each other. I
really hope our reaction will lead to the settle of a really International
HPV association in a system that will work and that can be unified in the
future.
I agree with Marcel, we have to be very carefull with the ihpva.org domain
name. We have to be sure that any legal action from the American IHPVA to
get the domain name will fail.
The record committee is also a need. As you may know, there have been a
couple of trials to beat the hour record at the Ceram test center in France
and there should be another trial in July. As riders want their attempt to
be ratified, most of them will join the American IHPVA. This is a strong
point for the "A-IHPVA". Another strong point is that the USA are a better
place to set a world record (high altitude, fast roads and tracks like
Nissan's) and Al Krauze's association is doing a good job organizing Speed
Championships on regular basis. Although I think it would be a pity, the
loss of quality of Battle Mountain's road could be a chance for us.
Richard and all,
We are tight on the schedule. We have to build the really international
IHPVA now. Here is how I see things :
1. Write bylaws for an International association made of national
associations. I think it is easier to keep the national level to have
identified representatives from all country. National associations can be
made of several associations (let say recumbents, rowing bike, foldables,
trikes, velomobiles...) who joigned together to promote HPVs and get
affiliated to the IHPVA. These bylaws must be simple as we have to move
forward, we can modify them later if needed.
2. Choose a place to settle our IHPVA. I suggested three countries : The
Netherland, obviously the biggest HPV association, Switzerland, country of
neutrality, France, land of Charlet Mochet.
3. Meet at the World's in England and sign the bylaws to create the
association
4. Setup a record committee
5. Setup a new really International newsletter, as we need to communicate
more and exchange information
Of course, we'll also have to find volunteers to move forward the
assocation.
